Our Team

Our team is composed by:

Instituto Superior de Agronomia
Coordinator / Principal researcher
Ph D Susete Marques

PhD in Forestry from Technical University of Lisbon since 2013. Her research interests are: wildfire risk and damage, wildfire behavior, forest management planning, optimization, multicriteria decision analysis, decision support systems

Co-Principal Researcher
Professor José G. Borges

PhD in Forest Science, University of Minnesota, 1994.

Research and outreach interests: Development of models, methods and decision support systems to address current challenges (e.g. climate change, multiple demands, collaborative needs, participatory concerns) faced by all actors involved in forest ecosystem management planning and land-use planning (e.g. non-industrial forest owners, the forest industry, the public administration and non-governmental organizations).

Researcher
PhD Adrián Pascual Arranz

B.A. and M.A., University of Valladolid, 2006-2012; Ph.D., University of Eastern Finland, 2018

active remote sensing sensors, especially lasers. He places strong emphasis on the utility of remote sensing information to optimize the use of natural resources when developing spatially-explicit solutions in forest planning

 Researcher
PhD Brigite Botequim

Brigite received the PhD degree in Forestry and Natural Resources in 2015 at School of Agriculture (ISA), University of Lisboa.

Her research interests are: Fire behaviour modelling, fire simulation analysis, Fire-adapted silviculture, Forest management planning, Trade-offs analysis, ecosystem services assessment as response to climate change and forest management models/dynamics.

Researcher
Mst. Carlos Caldas

Master in Forestry and Natural Resources Engineering at University of Lisbon

After a long career as a forestry consultant, he has recently embraced the challenges of research work at CEF/ISA. His main research interests are: forest economics, forest sector modelling and strategic planning

 Researcher
PhD Student Marco Marto

PhD student in Forestry and Natural Resources Engineering at University of Lisbon

His current research interests are: forest decision support systems, forest optimization, multicriteria analysis and management of forest ecosystem services, forest management, and fire risk analysis.

Researcher
PhD Student Marlene Marques

PhD student in Forestry and Natural Resources Engineering at University of Lisbon

Her main interests are multi-criteria decision analysis, group decision making techniques and forest management planning.
